Screen Recording (macOS)

macOS requires Screen Recording permission before an app can capture other windows.

1. The first snip makes macOS ask for permission
2. Open System Settings → Privacy & Security → Screen Recording and turn maikap on
3. Quit and reopen maikap

Note

When run from a terminal (cargo run), the permission belongs to the terminal app, not maikap.

The permission resets on every build

macOS ties the permission to the app’s code signature. Ad-hoc signed builds lose it on every rebuild (the toggle looks on, but snips show only the wallpaper).

Create a local “MaiKap Dev” certificate once; build-app.sh then signs with it so the grant survives rebuilds.

After changing the signature, reset and grant again:

tccutil reset ScreenCapture dev.bank20baht.maikap
open dist/maikap.app     # click New → allow → quit and reopen

open shows an old build?

An older copy is still running and open only brings it to the front. Quit it (or run scripts/uninstall.sh) and open again.
